FUNDING PRIORITIES

Thank you for your interest in The Courage Project!

Our Mission is to enhance the lives of children who experience symptoms of anxiety and depression and their families through mindful engagement in inspiring outdoor experiences.  The Courage Project seeks to raise awareness and destigmatize mental health concerns, one adventure at a time.

This is what you can make happen with a grant of $1,000 to $10,000:

A grant of $1,000 will enable us to provide 25 participating children backpacks filled with sun hats, reusable water bottles, snack bars, stickers and Courage Cards to protect them from the elements, fuel them for their adventure and help them remember and use the lessons they learned.

A grant of $2,500 will enable us to provide our staff with training in evidence-based strategies for emotion regulation so that they can educate and support participating children.

A grant of $5,000 will enable us to offer 2 free Rock Climbing Adventures next summer to help kids learn evidence-based coping strategies for overcoming fear and finding joy.  This will allow 20 eligible children to learn to climb on the legendary granite of Donner Summit.  Our Rock Climbing adventures are led by AMGA certified guides from the North American Ski Training Center and Rock Climbing School and include one-on-one mindfulness-based Courage Coaching, all necessary equipment, and a goodie bag full of supplies.

A grant of $10,000 will enable us to offer 4 winter adventures to help kids learn evidence-based coping strategies for overcoming fear and finding joy. This will allow 35 eligible children to learn to either ski or snowboard at a local resort or join us on a mindful snowshoe guided by the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association.  All adventures come complete with mindfulness-based Courage Coaching, professional instruction, lift tickets, all necessary rental equipment, and a goodie bag full of supplies.

Our current funding priorities are:

1.  Children

2.  Health and Wellness

3.  Education
