The Adventure:
Join us at Donner Summit to learn to rock climb with a Courage Coach by your side. This adventure is designed for children of all abilities, ages 9- to 13-years-old and is a technology-free event. All equipment is provided.
Why Rock Climbing?
Rock climbing encourages focus, problem-solving, and mental control.
Rock climbing provides opportunities for increased insight, courage, and self-reliance. It promotes awareness of the physical and mental elements of fear in a safe environment. It encourages the mental control necessary to relax, focus on the present moment, and actively choose perseverance in the face of fear, thoughts of failure or self-doubt - building resilience and confidence in your ability to overcome obstacles.
Consider for:
Children who struggle with self-doubt, fear of failure, or perfectionism
Children who struggle with perseverance, distress tolerance, or avoidance
Children who struggle with adaptability, transitions, or rigid thinking

Environmental Policy:
At The Courage Project, we seek to promote environmental stewardship and self-efficacy through Leave No Trace policies. Consistent with this vision, we ask that no single use plastic bottles be brought to the event. Each participant will be provided with a water bottle and snack. Please pack out all items you packed in and strive to leave the natural environment untouched.
