Learn to ski in a supportive, encouraging, and fun environment with a Courage Coach by your side!

This adventure is designed for children ages 8- to 13-years-old and is a technology-free event. All equipment is provided.
We are delighted to partner with Achieve Tahoe, SkiDucks and Squaw Valley USA / Alpine Meadows to provide this one-of-a-kind event! Professional ski instructors provide beginner skiing skills, while one-on-one Courage Coaching supports children in learning and applying principles of mindfulness to respond to the challenges of the day.  Children learn to respond intentionally and with self-compassion to fears of failure, feelings of embarrassment, social fears, fears of the unknown, and emotional or physical discomfort - enhancing emotional intelligence, self-regulation and resilience.
REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT OPENS SOON!

Why Skiing?

Skiing encourages focus, openness, and self-reliance.

Skiing provides opportunities for joy, moving meditation, connection with nature and serenity. Skiing promotes openness to new perspectives, adjustment to dynamic circumstances, self-reliance, opportunities to overcome challenges and a demand for present moment focus  - building confidence in your ability to adapt to changing stressors and building resilience.

Consider for:

Children who struggle with tension, worry, stress

Children who struggle with adjustment, adaptability, flexibility, transitions

Children who struggle with fear of failure, low confidence, or perfectionism

Natural Elements:

The mindful focus of each event will center upon the natural elements available. Consistent with mindfulness-based therapies, each element embodies a quality which can promote emotional stability and well-being.  Skiing offers:

Water:  Qualities of reflecting, tranquil, & seeing things clearly as they are.

Promotes feeling calm, still and quiet.

Mountain:  Qualities of a solid, calm, & unwavering nature.

Promotes feeling strong, confident, and determined.

Open Space:  Qualities of freedom, openness, & welcoming of all.

Promotes feeling free, light, relaxed and peaceful.

Environmental Policy:

At The Courage Project, we believe those connected with nature are most motivated to protect it.  We seek to promote environmental stewardship and self-efficacy through Leave No Trace policies. Consistent with this vision, we ask that no single use plastic bottles be brought to the event. Each participant will be provided with a water bottle and snack.  Please pack out all items you packed in and strive to leave the natural environment untouched.
