Service Description

Athletes ages 10-15 years old from Big Mountain and Alpine Race Teams in the North Tahoe area are invited to participate in this 4-week dryland and mental performance summer camp. This camp aligns mindful ski training engagement and enhancement curriculum with physical activity and outdoor immersion. Our 4-week camp offers 1/2 day adventures in the Lake Tahoe Basin and run 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This camp excludes the week of the 4th of July. Week 1 (June 17, June 19, June 21) features an introduction to our mental training curriculum, learning about the concept of the mental muscle, field games, speed and agility work, and a Shirley Canyon Hike with a tram ride down. Week 2 (June 24, June 26, June 28) features learning about our mind and body in relation to performance outcomes, how to move mindfully, rock climbing, mountain biking in the O6, and outdoor yoga. Week 3 (July 8, July 10, July 12) features taming our minds, letting go rituals, sports specific meditation, and in line skating. In line skating will begin with basic instruction and progress to SL, GS, and movement analysis. Week 4 (July 15, July 17, July 19) features practicing perspective and gratitude, GS and SL race simulation, speed and agility post testing, paddleboarding, and having the most fun ever! Parents are invited to come watch and cheer on the skate race. The last day of camp will be a day spent at the lake on paddleboards. Camp will be led by alpine race coach and trained MSPE instructor Claire O'Brien. She will be assisted by four other coaches who will be leading one younger group of 10-12 year olds and one older group of 13-15 year olds. Participants must currently be on an alpine race or big mountain team, be able to participate in up to 4 hours of physical activity, and model safety, good sportsmanship, and a desire to be at camp. Thank you to our generous sponsors, Lake Tahoe Watermans Association, Battleborn Biking, Palisades Tahoe Community Foundation, and our special community for making this camp possible. The future of well-rounded athlete development starts here!
